Language and Culture Center hosts a joint venture university program leaders symposium on EAP and writing in the age of AI
EAP and Writing program leaders from six joint venture universities gathered together at DKU in a symposium hosted by the Language and Culture Center (LCC) on
Saturday, April 11, to share perspectives on authenticity in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and writing programs in the age of generative AI. As the
keynote event of the Symposium, a panel brought together eight educators and leaders from EAP and writing programs at six joint-venture universities in China,
including NYU Shanghai, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Xi’an Jiaotong–Liverpool University, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China,
Wenzhou-Kean University, and DKU.

Early heatwave exposure shapes long-term climate governance decisions
Dr. Jingbo Cui, associate professor at Duke Kunshan University’s Environmental Research Center, and his research partners have published a paper titled The
Enduring Impacts of Early Life Exposure to Heatwaves on Climate Governance online in Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, a leading international
journal of environmental economics. Based on comprehensive data of local government officials and extreme climate phenomena, the research establishes indicators
reflecting policymakers' early exposure to extreme high temperatures. It analyzes how traumatic experiences caused by extreme weather in early years influence
policymakers’ behavioral tendencies and long-term decision-making in climate governance.
