Kunshan Delegation Visits Duke University Campus

Du Xiaogang, the mayor of Kunshan, China, and colleagues visited the Duke campus this week for meetings with Duke University leaders.

Du and President Richard Brodhead also signed a memorandum of understanding outlining basic principles and expectations governing the forthcoming process to plan the next phase of operations of Duke Kunshan, the joint venture university established by Duke, Kunshan, and Wuhan University.

Duke Kunshan University opened in 2014, offering an undergraduate semester program and graduate degree programs in medical physics, global health and management studies. A new international master’s in environmental policy program is set to launch in 2017, and work continues on the development of a proposed undergraduate degree program. A formal agreement to establish the undergraduate program will be considered by Duke’s faculty and the Board of Trustees late in the fall semester.
