DKU Board Meeting Held at Wuhan University

The inaugural meeting of the Duke Kunshan University Board of Trustees took place at Wuhan University on November 11 and 12, 2013. The Board’s actions included review and approval of DKU Articles of Association and Trustee Bylaws. Both are fundamental documents which outline the major principles and operating procedures for the new university and the board of trustees. In addition, the trustees approved the operating budget for academic year 2013-2014 as well as a number of items relating to the opening of DKU in fall of 2014.

Members of the Board of Trustees include Peter Lange, Provost of Duke University and Chairman of the DKU Board; James Roberts, Executive Vice Provost of Duke University; Thomas Gorrie, member of the Board of Trustees of Duke University; Feng Youmei, Executive Vice President of Wuhan University; Shu Hongbing, Vice President of Wuhan University; Jin Ming, Vice Director of Kunshan Association of Foreign Investments; Shen Jun, Chair of the Board of Yangcheng Lake Science & Technology Zone.

This meeting signaled the beginning of an independent governance model for Duke Kunshan University, a form of university governance approved by the Ministry of Education in its formal establishment of Duke Kunshan University in September 2013.
