Duke Kunshan faculty members listed among world’s top scientists

Two faculty members from Duke Kunshan’s Institute of Applied Physical Sciences and Engineering (iAPSE) have been listed among the world’s top 1,000 scientists in the field of computer science and electronics.

The latest rankings by Guide2Research, a leading international research portal for computer science, place professors Kishor Trivedi at No. 121 and Krishnendu Chakrabarty at No. 430 worldwide.

Based on Google Scholar’s H-Index metric, which measures productivity and impact, the index is regarded as the most accurate reflection of a researcher’s academic achievements and global influence.

Trivedi is the Hudson Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University, a faculty member at Duke Kunshan’s iAPSE, a life fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a golden core member of IEEE’s Computer Society.

A leading international expert in reliability and performance evaluation of dependable systems, he has published over 600 articles and several influential books, including ‘Probability and Statistics with Reliability, Queuing and Computer Science Applications’ and ‘Reliability and Availability Engineering: Modeling, Analysis, and Applications.’

Chakrabarty is the John Cocke Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke and a member of the iAPSE faculty. He is also a fellow of the IEEE, the Association for Computing Machinery and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and is a golden core member of the IEEE Computer Society.

His current research focuses on testing and design-for-testability of integrated circuits, microfluidic biochips, hardware security and neuromorphic computing.

Trivedi and Chakrabarty were among eight Duke professors included in Guide2Research’s 2019 rankings, the others being Guillermo Sapiro, Lawrence Carin, Robert Calderbank, Pankaj Agarwal, David Dunson and John Reif.
