{"id":18872,"date":"2023-11-04T15:02:45","date_gmt":"2023-11-04T07:02:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.dukekunshan.edu.cn\/?post_type=campus-news&#038;p=18872"},"modified":"2023-11-14T15:48:33","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T07:48:33","slug":"us-mayors-at-dku","status":"publish","type":"campus-news","link":"https:\/\/news.dukekunshan.edu.cn\/zh-hans\/campus-news\/us-mayors-at-dku\/","title":{"rendered":"\u7f8e\u56fd\u5e02\u957f\u4eec\u53c2\u89c2\u6606\u5c71\u675c\u514b\u5927\u5b66"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Kunshan and Durham will be \u201cinextricably linked for generations to come\u201d thanks to the universities that brought them together, the interim executive vice chancellor of Duke Kunshan University told the fifth China-U.S. Sister Cities Conference.<\/p>\n\n<p>Dr. Mary Frances Luce spoke of the special bond formed by the partner cities when Duke University in Durham and the Kunshan government teamed up with Wuhan University to establish Duke Kunshan as a leading global institution.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newstatic.dukekunshan.edu.cn\/dkumain\/wp-content\/uploads\/mainsite\/2023\/11\/US-mayors-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:792px;height:528px\" width=\"792\" height=\"528\" title=\"\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Mary Frances Luce<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>She delivered the remarks on Nov. 3 at an \u201cEducation and Youth\u201d parallel forum at the conference.<\/p>\n\n<p>Themed \u201cBuilding Green Cities for the People\u201d, the conference was held to forge closer ties and deepen practical cooperation between China and the U.S. at the local level.<\/p>\n\n<p>It was co-hosted by the Chinese People\u2019s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Jiangsu Provincial People\u2019s Government.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newstatic.dukekunshan.edu.cn\/dkumain\/wp-content\/uploads\/mainsite\/2023\/11\/US-mayors-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:796px;height:530px\" width=\"796\" height=\"530\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>The following day a United States delegation of county mayors attending the conference visited DKU for a tour of the campus.<\/p>\n\n<p>The local officials were shown state-of-the-art facilities such as the Library and Academic Building and the unique blend of Chinese and Western architectural features on campus as they experienced its vibrant international atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n<p>The visit on Nov. 4 to Duke Kunshan was one of several exchange activities associated with the China-U.S. Sister Cities Conference.
