DKU launched the 2025 Host Family Program, bringing together local families from Kunshan and Suzhou and international students for their first in-person meeting. DKU symposium highlights implementation science and real-world impact



On Nov. 9, DKU hosted the international symposium "Bridging the Gap Between Evidence and Impact," focused on implementation science. The event brought together five leading scholars in the field for keynote addresses and in-depth discussions.
CREATInG initiative concludes regulatory training, supporting global IVD market access



The inaugural Regulatory Functional Training, a core module of the CREATInG Initiative (China Regulatory Excellence and Training for In-vitro Diagnostics Global Initiative), concluded at DKU from Nov. 10 to 12. The event marked the initiative's third major activity, following an international roundtable and an executive workshop.
The 2025 global health winter camp concludes



From Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, DKU's Global Health Master's Program hosted the "Global Health Innovation for Impact: From Idea to Scale" winter camp. The three-day program brought together leading scholars and industry leaders in global health and biotechnology. Through lectures, roundtable discussions, site visits and group activities, the camp explored three modules: moving from problem to innovative solutions, bringing global health innovation to market, and scaling for sustainability. It provided a platform for knowledge sharing and practical exchange for more than 20 master's and undergraduate students in global health-related fields.
Exhibition: Riverbank homes - life on Suzhou's Shantang Street



On Dec. 4, the Humanities Research Center opened Riverbank Homes, an exhibition featuring 50 student photographs of Suzhou's Shantang Street alongside works by curator Honey Huang. Developed as part of Professor Li Xu's CHINESE 401B Advanced Chinese - Issues in Modern China (Fall 2025) community-based learning project, in collaboration with Jiawen Cai and Isaac Zhu from Student Experience, the exhibition explores how the neighborhood balances preservation and change. About 100 guests attended the opening, which included remarks from Professor Li Xu, HRC co-director Selina Lai Henderson, Dean Christopher Van Velzer and Shantang Street residents Mr. and Ms. Li.
Reading in the age of AI: A conversation with Gao Xiqing



On Nov. 13, DKU Library and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations hosted the "Donated Books Appreciation Ceremony & Conversation with Dr. Gao Xiqing" at the Library Tea House. The event recognized Gao Xiqing and his wife, Ma Xiaowei, for donating more than 800 volumes from their personal collections and invited the community to discuss the value of reading in the age of AI.
Global health symposium examines AI’s role in future health systems



On Nov. 21, DKU’s Global Health Research Center hosted a symposium, “How to Prepare for the AI Era in Global Health?,” featuring Professor Tien Yin Wong of Tsinghua Medicine. He highlighted major global health challenges, including aging populations, rising rates of chronic disease and unequal access to care, while noting that although AI holds significant promise, its real-world implementation remains limited. Drawing on Singapore’s SELENA+ project, he illustrated how AI can be translated into impactful public health solutions and introduced a Six-P framework to guide the development of an AI-enabled global health ecosystem. During the panel discussion, Wong and Shixin Xu, assistant professor of mathematics at DKU, emphasized the importance of maintaining clinical expertise, improving data quality and strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration.
