As spring turns into early summer at Duke Kunshan University, a lively display takes shape around the campus—not on canvas but fluttering from lampposts: banners inscribed with messages that offer everyone a glimpse into the heart of the academic community.
The banners are adorned with the voices of DKU’s global family — professors championing interdisciplinary study and graduates whose young careers have already taken flight worldwide. Their words speak volumes of gratitude, unity in diversity, cherished memories, and hopeful aspirations shaped by their experiences at DKU — fulfilling the vision of a campus where education goes beyond boundaries.
John Quelch, Executive Vice Chancellor, underscored students’ individual pathways to success as the true north of DKU’s mission.
“At DKU, we are wholly focused on student success. Students are our reason for being,” he said. “While many universities highlight their faculty, we celebrate our students too.”
Chancellor Yaolin Liu extolled the virtues of student-centered academic excellence and thanked DKU’s faculty and staff for their extraordinary dedication, “which provides not only invaluable academic guidance but also vital life wisdom to our students.”
