A delegation from Duke-NUS Medical School visited Duke Kunshan University May 19–20 to deepen institutional ties and advance joint initiatives in medical education, research and faculty development.

A key area of discussion was the MD program pathway, which has been in place for several years, offering qualified DKU students the opportunity to apply to Duke-NUS. The two institutions also explored expanding joint faculty appointments, enabling DKU faculty to contribute to teaching and research at Duke-NUS and potentially co-supervise its Ph.D. students.
In addition, both institutions agreed to leverage resources in innovation and entrepreneurship and strengthen research collaboration in focus areas including AI in health care, cancer, aging, infectious diseases and pandemic preparedness.

The meetings brought together leaders from Duke-NUS, DKU and its Global Health Program, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to high-impact, sustainable cooperation. Education was emphasized as a key pillar of the partnership, with plans to develop joint programs for student and faculty exchanges and professional training.
“Our discussions have produced actionable plans to integrate our academic strengths,” said Professors Shenglan Tang and Fujie Xu, co-directors of the DKU Global Health Program. “The student pathways and joint appointments will create new opportunities for innovation in global health education and research.”
