A 3-day training workshop for student club leaders of Chinese universities commenced on Mar. 26 at Duke Kunshan University, attracting 73 student club leaders and volunteers from 52 universities across China to attend. Organized by All-China Youth Federation, China Youth Daily and Chinese Association for Campus International Societies, the 4th Training Workshop for Leaders of China Campus International Societies is hosted outside Beijing for the first time.
Duke Kunshan University Chancellor Liu Jingnan warmly welcomed all the participants at the opening ceremony, and pointed out the significance of hosting this workshop at Duke Kunshan, a Sino-US joint venture university, ‘as globalization accelerates, China’s responsibility for global governance has reached an unprecedented level, which calls for future leaders who are versed in international affairs and who embrace global challenges. I’m glad to see that this training workshop for international exchange club leaders is held on our highly diverse campus, and I believe you would have the chance to learn about the latest trends in global governance from this workshop, and become more global-minded as an emerging ambassador of Chinese culture.’
The 3-day workshop provided an open platform for participants to discuss with Duke Kunshan faculty and students about the advantages of Sino-foreign joint venture universities, and to learn about Duke Kunshan’s facility, faculty resources and innovative pedagogy through conversations and first-hand experiences. Experts and scholars from All-China Youth Federation, China Youth Daily and Fudan University lectured on the art of telling the China story, China and system reforms in global governance, international situation and China’s diplomacy, and global leadership. Patrick Moreton, associate dean for graduate programs at Duke Kunshan engaged the participants with a XXX class on global awareness and leadership, and gave them a brief introduction to how Duke Kunshan University fosters students with global leadership skills through various academic programs.
